Greenland Police Department

The Greenland Volunteer Fire Department is always looking for new members.  In 2007 we responded to over 350 calls - we could use your help!  Being a member of GVFD is an opportunity for you to give something back to your community.  Join our team! If you have questions about becoming a volunteer, send us an e-mail.

It is easy to start.  We have volunteer opportunities in Firefighting, EMT, dispatch and support.  You must be at least 18 years old, a New Hampshire resident, available to respond to emergencies and attend our monthly meetings and training.

No Experience?
If you're committed to becoming an active member of the GVFD we'll train you! GVFD provides professional level training in addition to our monthly training at the fire station.

What Can I Do?
Probie:
That's you for the first six months!  All new members are placed on probation for six months.  During that time new members must attend all meetings, drills, and station checks.  You'll also be required to complete basic training for EMT and/or Firefighter.

Firefighter:
All new Firefighters are on probation for the first six months.  Within this time, they must successfully pass the State of New Hampshire Firefighter Level 1 course and obtain CPR certification through the American Heart Association at the Healthcare Provider level.  We'll train you!

EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
All new EMT's are on probation for the first six months.  Within this time they must successfully pass a state approved Emergency Medical Technician course, receive a NH Ambulance Attendant License, and obtain CPR certification through the American Heart Association at the Healthcare Provider level.  We'll train you!

Dispatchers
Not everyone wants to wants to enter a burning building.  When we're out on a call we need someone to run the radio from our base and complete call sheets.  We'll train you!

GVFD Ladies Auxiliary:
The Ladies Auxiliary has been providing assistance to the Greenland Volunteer Fire Department since 1951.  Through their 2007 fundraising efforts, complete sets of hand tools for each of our fire apparatus have been purchased.  The members of the Ladies Auxiliary also participate in GVFD's open houses.  The Ladies Auxiliary always welcomes new members and invites Greenland residents to their monthly meeting.  This is a great way to assist the GVFD without having to respond to calls.  E-mail for more information about the GVFD Ladies Auxiliary and for their meeting dates.

Volunteer today!  We need you.  Firefighter, EMT and Dispatcher Volunteer Application
